Mesopotamia (Discovery)

Lesson 1: Navigation and Exploring Mesopotamia
 
Suggested Grade Level: 5 - 8th Grade

The students will learn navigation skills in a virtual world environment- Cornell’s
Universe of Active Worlds, CUni. Specifically, the students will learn various navigation
techniques (e.g., flying, moving through objects, panning right and left) used in
CUni.

Lesson 2: Information Portal Treasure Hunt
 
Suggested Grade Level: 5 - 8th Grade

The students will learn to how to use the coordinate system in CUni to locate web
research portals (i.e., floating, rotating 3D objects linked to Web pages for guided
research). Then the students will learn to use the interactive research portals
to access Web content from within the world.
Ancient Egypt (Project)

Lesson 1: Mapping Egypt and Portal Hunt
 
Suggested Grade Level: 5 - 8th Grade

The students will learn to how map using the Cartesian coordinate system in CUni.
Then they will locate and plot research portals (i.e., floating, rotating 3D objects
linked to Web pages for guided research). The students will learn to use the interactive
research portals to access Web content from within the world.

Suggested Grade Level: 5 - 8th Grade

linked to Web pages for guided research). The students will learn to use the interactive
research portals to access Web content from within the world. Students will create
a reference sheet for research topics in preparation for the rest of the lessons
in the Greece module.

castle within the CUni virtual world.
